Chicago Waldorf School is seeking a German Language Teacher Position鈥擣ull time or part time听
The听German听language teacher in our school will work with other colleagues in the world language department to provide well-rounded, innovative, rigorous instruction in the听German听language to a variety of classes in grade school and high school.听These lessons are developed in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy and听in light of听the needs of the class and individual students.听Waldorf schools worldwide favor experiential learning over instruction on screens, and we value human connection in our classrooms and in our larger school community.听听
Our language instruction is varied and developmental in approach featuring games,听stories听and songs with younger students, progressing to reading, writing and discussion in the high school. Teachers share cultural experiences of holidays,听food听and music to enhance our students鈥� knowledge. The school currently teaches both German and听German听beginning in first grade and continuing through twelfth grade. Our world language program supports our active international exchange program, with many of our high school students听participating.听听
This position, if part-time听could be combined with听additional听teaching or administrative work to create a full-time position.听听

Essential Job Duties
Candidates should听possess听strong classroom management skills, excellent communication, and an ability to collaborate with colleagues. We听seek听to integrate our academic subjects and arts curriculum to deepen our students’ experience with the material presented. We ask听all of听our faculty to engage with the larger community through events and committee work.听

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be someone who:听听
- Is a native speaker, or who has excellent听German听language skills听
- An enthusiasm for听German听language and culture听
- A feeling that teaching is an art听听
- at least an undergraduate degree and has听听
- completion of听or听interest in pursuing Waldorf teacher training and/or three years successful Waldorf teaching experience听
- experience teaching range of students of different ages, and from听different backgrounds听听
- be open to mentoring and/or further training听
