Position OverviewÌý
Chicago Waldorf High SchoolÌýneeds a builder and innovator to take our high school into the 21stÌýcentury.ÌýThe High School Level Chair is aÌýmember ofÌýPedagogical Leadership, which requires a combination of administrative and classroom responsibilities, based on our current configuration.ÌýOur High School Chair will collaborate with faculty and administration to describe,ÌýimplementÌýand communicate essential elements of our program and educational philosophy.ÌýÌý

The High School Level Chair reports toÌýthe Faculty Director andÌýpartnersÌýwith other members of our Management Team to ensureÌýexcellent delivery of our high school curriculum. It will be important toÌýhold practical details and day-to-day operations alongside visionaryÌýplanning. This pedagogical leader will support all facultyÌýand studentsÌýin grades 9-12 to meet the school’s Mission and Strategic Vision.ÌýÌýThe High School Level Chair will be guided in all aspects of their work byÌýº£½ÇÉçÇø Core Principles of º£½ÇÉçÇøÌýandÌý.ÌýÌý

Duties and Responsibilities of the Level Chair include:ÌýÌý
- Oversee all aspects of High School student life, activities, and academics atÌýChicago Waldorf High SchoolÌý
- Overseeing and designing a schedule and course offerings that is in alignment withÌýWaldorf principlesÌýÌý
- Developing a curriculum that embraces our time and place and that prepares ourÌýstudents for meaningful work in college and beyondÌýÌý
- Communicating with parents, teachers and the board about programs and policiesÌýin a clear andÌýtimelyÌýmannerÌýÌý
- Building agendas for weekly meetings andÌýfacilitatingÌýthe meetings with an eyeÌýtoward a healthy and collaborative workplaceÌýÌý
- Facilitating parent evenings and senior projectsÌýÌý
- Partnering with the Faculty Director to oversee andÌýimplementingÌýstudent disciplinary policies, behavior plans and safety plansÌýÌý
- Coordinating with College Counselors and theÌýRegistrar’sÌýOffice for new student enrollment and college placementÌýÌý
- Supporting enrollment and teacher recruitment initiativesÌýÌý
- RepresentingÌýour school and the high school level to the school community and the larger educational communityÌýÌý
- Serving as a member of the school’s Management Team and Leadership TeamÌýÌý
- Building relationships with other Waldorf High SchoolsÌýÌýÌý
The ideal candidateÌýpossesses:ÌýÌý
- Completed Waldorf Teacher Training and/or Waldorf Administrative Training or its equivalentÌýÌý
- AÌýBachelor’sÌýDegree,ÌýMaster’sÌýDegreeÌýor beyondÌýÌý
- ThreeÌýyearsÌýsuccessful Waldorf teaching and leadership experience, ideally in a PreK-12th Grade Waldorf School preferred.ÌýÌý
- Demonstrated understanding,ÌýinterestÌýand openness toÌýº£½ÇÉçÇø andÌýother progressive school models and an openness toÌýAnthroposophy.ÌýÌý
- Commitment to the Mission,ÌýVisionÌýand Core Values of the Chicago Waldorf School.ÌýÌý
- Ability to infuse creativity and joy into practical tasks and daily operationsÌýÌý
- Dedication to building a positive and collaborative workplace for all facultyÌýÌý
