SpanishÌýLanguage Teacher Position—Full time or part timeÌý

TheÌýSpanishÌýlanguage teacher in our school will work with other colleagues in the world language department to provide well-rounded, innovative,ÌýrigorousÌýinstruction in theÌýSpanishÌýlanguage to a variety of classes in grade school and high school.ÌýThese lessons are developed in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy and in light of the needs of the class and individual students.ÌýWaldorf schools worldwide favor experiential learning over instruction on screens, and we value human connection in our classrooms and in our larger school community.ÌýÌý

Our language instruction is varied and developmental in approach featuring games,ÌýstoriesÌýandÌýsongsÌýwith younger students,ÌýprogressingÌýtoÌýreading,Ìýwriting and discussion in the high school.ÌýTeachers share cultural experiences of holidays,ÌýfoodÌýand music to enhance our students’ knowledge.ÌýThe school currently teaches bothÌýGermanÌýandÌýSpanishÌýbeginning in first grade and continuing through twelfth grade.ÌýOur world language program supports ourÌýactive international exchange program, with manyÌýof our high school studentsÌýparticipating.ÌýÌý

Candidates shouldÌýpossessÌýstrong classroom management skills, excellentÌýcommunication,Ìýand an ability to collaborate with colleagues. WeÌýseekÌýto integrate our academic subjects and arts curriculum to deepen ourÌýstudents’Ìýexperience with the material presented.ÌýWe askÌýall ofÌýour faculty to engage with the larger community through events and committee work.Ìý

This position, if part-timeÌýcould be combined withÌýadditionalÌýteaching or administrative work toÌýcreateÌýa full-time position.ÌýÌýÌý

QualificationsÌý

The ideal candidate will be someone who:ÌýÌý

  • Is a native speaker, or who has excellentÌýSpanishÌýlanguage skillsÌý
  • An enthusiasm forÌýSpanishÌýlanguage and cultureÌý
  • A feeling that teaching is an artÌýÌý
  • at least an undergraduate degree and hasÌýÌý
  • completion of or interest in pursuing Waldorf teacher training and/or three years successful Waldorf teaching experienceÌý
  • experience teaching range of students of different ages, and fromÌýdifferent backgroundsÌýÌý
  • be open to mentoring and/or further trainingÌý
