Spanish听Language Teacher Position鈥擣ull time or part time听
The听Spanish听language teacher in our school will work with other colleagues in the world language department to provide well-rounded, innovative,听rigorous听instruction in the听Spanish听language to a variety of classes in grade school and high school.听These lessons are developed in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy and in light of the needs of the class and individual students.听Waldorf schools worldwide favor experiential learning over instruction on screens, and we value human connection in our classrooms and in our larger school community.听听
Our language instruction is varied and developmental in approach featuring games,听stories听and听songs听with younger students,听progressing听to听reading,听writing and discussion in the high school.听Teachers share cultural experiences of holidays,听food听and music to enhance our students鈥� knowledge.听The school currently teaches both听German听and听Spanish听beginning in first grade and continuing through twelfth grade.听Our world language program supports our听active international exchange program, with many听of our high school students听participating.听听
Candidates should听possess听strong classroom management skills, excellent听communication,听and an ability to collaborate with colleagues. We听seek听to integrate our academic subjects and arts curriculum to deepen our听students’听experience with the material presented.听We ask听all of听our faculty to engage with the larger community through events and committee work.听
This position, if part-time听could be combined with听additional听teaching or administrative work to听create听a full-time position.听听听
Qualifications听
The ideal candidate will be someone who:听听
- Is a native speaker, or who has excellent听Spanish听language skills听
- An enthusiasm for听Spanish听language and culture听
- A feeling that teaching is an art听听
- at least an undergraduate degree and has听听
- completion of or interest in pursuing Waldorf teacher training and/or three years successful Waldorf teaching experience听
- experience teaching range of students of different ages, and from听different backgrounds听听
- be open to mentoring and/or further training听
