BBC authors Alessia Franco and David Robson look at the latest research on the benefits of outdoor play and getting dirty in their article . The article looks at studies that not only define the mental restoration and well being effects of spending time outdoors, but also the positive way non-infectious organisms train and boost our immunity and overall health.

They go as far as to propose: 鈥淲ith future research, it may be possible to enrich the soil in house gardens and schoolyards with the most beneficial organisms.鈥
